Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo were selected to open the game in voting by fans announced last night. This is the 15th time Garnett has been chosen for the game (he missed one, 2008, with an injury), his 11th as a starter. It will be Rondo’s fourth All-Star selection, his first as a starter.
The rest of the Eastern Conference starters are Miami’s LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and New York’s Carmelo Anthony.
Think about that for a second. Rajon and KG are going to be teammates with their arch rival LeBron, the guy who dislocated Rondo's arm and got away with one of the worst non calls in game 2 of last playoffs on Rondo and a guy who just had to be separated from KG because he said his wife tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios. The only thing that would be worse is if Ray Allen got on as a reserve, but that won't happen since he is averaging the least amount of points, minutes and shots he has in his career...... wasn't those the reasons he left?
That is going to be a real strange dynamic in that locker room huh? Sure it'll be fun to watch and see if these guys can fake it for the game. The introductions should be real fun as well. It seems like nobody really enjoys the Celtics or their players. I remember 2 years ago when Rajon, Paul, KG and Judas made the All Star game they refused to talk to Heat players and even acknowledge them before the game. I kind of like that.
It is good to see Rondo get the nod as a starter, the fans got it right with both him and KG. As we all know this means a lot to Rondo, so it's great that he finally got what he deserves. To be honest, of all the All Star games I think the NBA one is the most entertaining by far, the NFL is a joke, MLB has too much shit going on with substitutions and I don't know anything about the NHL.
This break also means another thing too, it means the second half switch gets flicked. I know they have won 6 of the last 7, but normally after the all star break they get significantly better.
