Bobcats Hire St. John's Assistant Mike Dunlap

"St. John's assistant Mike Dunlap was hired Monday as head coach by the Charlotte Bobcats, the school said in a statement released early Tuesday morning. NBA sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard the Bobcats will make an official announcement Wednesday at a press conference in Charlotte (ESPN)."

Ummm what?

This guy has never been a head coach for a D-I college or a Pro team in his career. He has won two Division II national championships and a Coach of the Year, but this still has be somewhat shocking. Then again, who did you think they were going to get? The Bobcats are coming off a season where they had the worst record in NBA history. The entire roster needs to be redone, and they don't even have the #1 pick.

There are people saying that this guy is a great coach, and will be great for player development, which I guess is what they are going to have to go for at this point. There are no free agents that are going to want to come to the Bobcats, so they are going to have to get better through the draft and then hope Dunlap can trun them into great Pros.

Personally, I think this should just move this team to Seattle.

He's been successful at whatever level he has coached! He is fantastic! They are thinking outside the box... Plus do you see him rocking the snow white Air Force One's??? C'mon!

Example of Bob judging a book by it's cover.

He's cheap. The team sucks. Whoever coaches this team will be lucky to last for three years. This way they don't have to spend a lot. They get good draft picks for the next few years and then hire a real coach.
