The latest rumor is that Edwin Jackson is looking to sign just a one year deal, because the 3 year deals that are being offered aren't for that much. So, he will sign a 1 year deal and hit the market again next year.
This, according to multiple sources, is great news for the Red Sox. They have offered him a 1 year $6 million deal (I think they will have to give him $8 million to get him), and the other teams that are interested aren't playoff contenders (Orioles), so according to them the Red Sox have the best shot right now.
As I have said before, Jackson is no ace, but he is an inning eater that would be a perfect fit in a rotation that really needs that. Since the Red Sox would just need him to be the 4/5 starter I think it would be a perfect fit.
Sox rotation if they sign Jackson:
Lester
Beckett
Buchholz
Jackson
Bard
On top of that you will have Dice-K back in July, so if Bard doesn't work out you can slide him in there, plus all those guys to signed to minor league deals (Cook, ect). I would feel 100% better about this season with Jackson on the team and Aceves back in that bullpen.

I like Marlon Jackson better.
This would be a great signing for the Sox. Can never have too much pitching.
Doesn't seem like it'll happen.
According to ESPNBoston.com, the Red Sox are unlikely to land Jackson because he has better offers from other teams.
motherfucker.
