Super Bowl In London?

Colts owner (Irsay) is on the board that decides where the Super Bowl will be played. Here is what he had to say...

“There’s a little bit of change in philosophy,” Irsay said Monday. “We have the 50-year anniversary coming up, which we’re looking at. There are some members of our committee who have been thinking about having an international Super Bowl in London. That obviously has some real pluses and minuses if you weren’t going to have it on America soil. Right now, we’re in a wait-and-see approach (CBS Sports).”

You can't have the Super Bowl anywhere but America. I am actually going to the Super Bowl this year, and let me tell you it was a bitch to try to plan out how to get there, where to stay, ect. I am flying into Chicago then driving 4 hours down to Indianapolis and staying in a place that is roughly an hour away from the stadium. It was the only way I could keep costs down. It's about 900 bucks a night for any hotel room in Indianapolis, and the flights there are about the same.

So, I could only imagine how god-awful it would be to try to plan this while having to go to another country. Passports, hotels, flight costs, ect... Fuck that. Football is an American sport. People over there don't give a shit about it, and that's fine. I am sure they wouldn't want there soccer championships in Dallas. Keep the biggest game where it belongs... in the US.

This idea of expanding the NFL to Britain is moronic. As you said, it's like having the FA Cup Finals in Dallas.

The FA Cup finals should be in Denton, MT not Dallas. The Super Bowl in London would be awesome.

i wouldn't put my name to that comment either.

The European Champions' League Finals should be played in Tokyo.

Yeah, I like that the NFL is thinking internationally in it's long term plans, but this shouldn't happen anytime soon.

Way to use a post to humblebrag the fact that you're going to the SB. Gratuitous and unnecessary.

NFL needs to drop this whole pitch to London/UK/Europe.

This is an American sport adored by Americans -- how do they not understand this??

Instead of delving into ways to make the NFL brand an international entity, why not work on fixing situations like in Jacksonville (aka ZERO fan support). This obsession with crossing the Atlantic is ruining their relationship with their fan bases.

Once a year (and there will be more games to come, just you watch), there are season ticket holders who get screwed out of an 8th home game because the NFL decided that their team should play in London. I'm sorry this just does not sit well with me. Not to mention the adverse affect the travel has on the players...

This bullshit needs to stop!
