Breaking News: Shaq Retires

"Shaquille O'Neal posted a video on Tout, which indicates that he is ready to retire after 19 years in the NBA. "We did it, 19 years baby," O'Neal said in the video. "I want to thank you very much. That's why I'm telling you first: I'm about to retire (WEEI)."

You can see the video HERE

Even though the injury fucked the Celtics I am still sad to see him go, and he would still be a bargin for $1 million if he was to come back. To me this makes it even more obvious the Celtics will go after a big man in the draft. At least Shaq isn't a douche got this over with quickly.

Stanley Cup Finals Preview

It's June. The weather is beautiful. And there's a Bruins game on tonight. What a great way to start the summer.

The Canucks are the best team - on paper and on the ice - that the Bruins will face this postseason. They have fast forwards like Tampa, but their forwards are also strong. They have stalwart defensemen like Montreal. They have a Vezina nominee in net.

It's nice to see two traditional hockey markets in the Finals again. Last year saw Chicago vs. Philadelphia, which was a refreshing break from the streak of southern and Californian teams that just don't seem to belong in the sport. And in case you were wondering, Vancouver is as hockey-obsessed as Montreal and Toronto, as this video of the Vancouver skyline reacting to their OT win over San Jose demonstrates:

Frankly, I think Roberto Luongo is a bit overrated. He's Canadian born, plays on a Canadian team, and that's a formula for the hockey media to give him more praise and credit than he's due. But he's still very good. He does tend to get overly aggressive at times. And unlike Tim Thomas, he's sometimes not able to recover and make the save. He's also susceptible to being rattled.

I lost all respect for Luongo's character in the opening round of the playoffs. He was pulled twice, and in Game 6 the Canucks started backup Cory Schneider. Luongo didn't even sit on the bench with his teammates. He watched the game on TV from the locker room. Thanks to a Schneider injury, he found his way back between the pipes.

The strength of the Canucks is their top two lines. The Sedin twins will likely win back-to-back Hart (MVP) Trophies. Only five players scored 40+ goals this season, and two of them play for Vancouver: Daniel Sedin and Ryan Kesler. The Canucks can get offense from beyond their top 2 lines, but these units have to be the focus of the Bruins defensemen. Not only do Chara and Seidenberg have to continue their epic level of play, Boychuk and Ference need to be almost as good. Boychuk was hit-or-miss against the Lightning. He's capable of so much better.

The Canucks' defensemen also contribute to the offense. Kevin Bieksa's 5 playoff goals are 4th on the team. Christian Ehrhoff is also a weapon, and should be healthy enough to start Game 1 tonight. Their defensemen also play some pretty solid defense. The grinding battles between forechecking Bruins' forwards and the Vancouver d-men will be very fun to watch, and will determine who wins these games.

The numbers are all on Vancouver's side. #1 in goals scored, #1 in goals allowed, #1 power play, #3 penalty kill. So what do the Bruins have?

Tim Thomas. He's the key. If he plays at his best, the Bruins have a good chance to win this series. He can keep them in every game.

Also, neither team has much Stanley Cup Finals experience. So as talented as Vancouver is, they're just as likely to succumb to nerves as the Bruins are.

For the Bruins to win, they need guys like Thomas, Chara, Seidenberg, Bergeron, Horton, and Krejci to continue playing at the level they've been playing at. They need contributions from Seguin, Paille, Peverley, and McQuaid. They need Michael Ryder to step up for more than two games per series. Mark Recchi also needs to show up and make an imprint on the game. Tomas Kaberle needs to be benched.

The power play MUST be productive. I'm not a huge fan of Chara playing in the crease, because it takes away his fearsome slapshot, and also his ability to sneak in to the faceoff dots from the backdoor. I don't mind if he rotates to the crease once and awhile, but don't like him starting there.

Horton should be the distributor on the halfwall, not Krejci. Although Krejci is a better passer, the threat of Horton shooting is much more imminent. Opposing penalty killers must respect that shot, which will open up space for the forwards down low.

I like the idea of rotating a forward into the very high slot, essentially at the blue-line. This is a good place to put Bergeron or Peverley. Vancouver will either have to stretch themselves to defend against it, or leave the points ample space to shoot.

The key to a successful power play is to make the opposing team work their asses off. Don't make it easy with perimeter passes. Don't make it easy with giveaways, forced passes, or low quality entries. Move bodies, not just the puck. These are simple concepts.

I think the Bruins will win this. I think Luongo will have a flustered game at some point. I think Thomas will steal a game. Bruins in 6.

Tim Tebow Wants Me To Hate Him

Tim Tebow is having his memoir come out called "Through My Eyes". I hated Tebow in college, then I kinda liked him because he got so much shit before being drafted that I thought I'd be cool if he actually made it. Ten he did a stupid Super Bowl commercial, and now this...

"And throughout Through My Eyes, Tebow's book now in stores, is the bone-deep religious side of the evangelical young player who writes Bible verses beneath the play codes on his wristbands, just as he once inscribed them in his eye black for his college games.

The book, written with co-author Nathan Whitaker, starts each chapter with a Bible verse and is laced with as much with "glory to God" as it is with pages of grit-and-grunt details of Tebow's trademark punishing workouts. He trains relentlessly, determined to confound everyone who has questioned whether he can make it as a quarterback in the NFL (USA Today)."

First off how the hell do you right a memoir when you haven't done shit in the NFL. If it was just about his college days then fine, but that should still be done after your career is over. Tebow isn't even the starting QB on a very average football team.

Then there is all this God stuff. I don't mind that people are religious, but when you throw it in everyone face it drives me crazy. It's basically like anything else, I don't mind vegetarians, but if you preach to me about how I should feel sorry for animals then I hate you. I don't mind conservatives, but if you preach to me about how I'm wrong and everything sucks unless your Republican, then I hate (looking at you Mr. Callahan). Well the same goes for this God stuff, and I'm sick of it. I get Mr. Tebow you love Jesus. Sweet, now go learn how to throw a spiral and shut the fuck up.

White Sox @ Red Sox Preview

The Red Sox have fallen out of 1st place, and it could get worse as Wakefield goes against Gavin Floyd. Floyd has been impressive against Boston in his career going is 4-0 with a 2.81 ERA in 5 career starts against Boston, and has a 1.69 ERA in his last four. He has lost his last three road outings so hopefully Boston can finally figure him out.

In Wake's last 2 starts he has gone a total of 13 2/3 letting up only 3 ERs. He isn't very good against the White Sox in his career though (7-12 4.93), and I am kind of expecting one of those "bad" Wakefield starts today.

Boston did start crushing the ball at the end of last game, and I think it will be another high scoring affair, but I do think the White Sox are going to get enough out of Floyd to win.

White Sox win 8-7
Player of the Game: Konerko
Game starts at 1:35pm

I Can't Ignore it, The Heat Are 3 Games From Me Seriously Considering Committing Suicide

I went to bed at halftime, something woke me up when there was 1 minute left in the game. I believe that was God's way of playing a practical joke on me. "This will be funny, Dave is asleep and having a dream about him and Kate Upton, let me wake him up from that to see the Heat win" Thanks God, that was a punch to the dick.

the Heat are 3 games away from taking the title. the Scary thing is that they held Dallas to 84 points. Yes, Dallas shot horribly and missed A LOT of open looks, but this isn't a great way to start off the series. If you look at the positives for Dallas you can say they held Miami to 92 points, They missed a ton of open looks, and it could have been rust from the layoff. I'll bank on that, but more and more it looks like LeDouche is going to be winning his 1st title..... Shucks.

Yup, I'm a Band Wagoner... Fuck Off

I have always been a Hockey hater and could care less about the sport. I was pumped actually when the sport went on strike because it didn't waste my Sportscenter time. But I'll admit it, I'm rooting for the Bruins. I'm not going to act like I know a lot about hockey or any of the players. I like Michael Ryder and Tim Thomas, and that's the extent of my hockey knowledge. I have no idea who's on Vancouver, I could care less. But with the Celtics tanking, the Red Sox not winning in a couple of years, it's about time we get another parade here in Boston and go back to the top of the sports world so we can be smug to all other fans across the country.

So here are my predictions for this series.

Bruins in 6, Ryder with 6 goals in the series, wins MVP and I get to be a thorn in every Bruins side by saying I told you so.

I Believe We have Seen The Last Of Terrelle Pryor At Ohio State

1st we have Jim Tressel resigning from Ohio State after the turmoil surrounding him, now the NCAA has released a seperate investigation surrounding highly touted, yet disappointing qb Terrelle Pryor and him having a million cars.

"Pryor drove up to a players-only team meeting on Monday night in a coal-black Nissan 350Z sports car with 30-day plates. The automotive information site Edmunds.com lists a recent, used 350Z, which it calls "a proper sports car for the everyman," as costing between $16,000 and $27,000.

Pryor was stopped three times for traffic violations over the past three years, each time driving cars that were owned by Kniffin or a Columbus used-car dealership where he worked, the Dispatch has reported. Kniffin, owner Jeff Mauk of Jack Maxton Chevrolet, Inc., and Jason Gross of Auto Direct Columbus, Inc., each provided affidavits to Ohio State officials earlier this month." ESPN

Well that seems pretty open and shut don't you think. How did no one ever question this or question where he got these from? This isn't like a Cam Newton situation, Pryor was contently flashing the cars around campus around. Ohio State is going to go down big time and I wouldn't be surprised if all the records they have will be wiped out.

10 White Sox, 7 Red Sox

It was too little too late. When the Red Sox offense awoke, we already had given up on the game and the lead was insurmountable. Phil fucking Humber and Sexy Alexei Ramirez tore through the Red Sox. Alexei was 4-5 and Philip Humber went 7 innings giving up a home run to Jason Queeratek. But then the 8th happened Humber gave up hits to Josh Reddick, Drew Sutton, and Kevin Youkilis. He was relieved by Will Ohman and he gave up a bomb to David Ortiz for a three run bomb. The good luck continued in the ninth as Reddick and Sutton drove in two more runs to inch the Sox closer but Adrian Gonzalez got caught looking at a third strike to squash any hopes of a comeback.

I don't mind this loss though, Alfredo Aceves gave up a fuck ton of runs. He's on borrowed time and should be his last start until....... Lackey returns. Alfredo Aceves got roughed up against this White Sox offense, giving up eight earned runs in just five innings pitched.

They've lost three straight to end what has been a remarkable May and finish the month 19-10.
