Celtics/ Blazers Preview

Like I said earlier Portland has been absolutely awful this year, I don't know how, well I guess injuries, but I expected a lot more from them this year.

The Celtics go for their 5th straight win, which would tie a season high, but Portland shouldn't be taken lightly.

The rosters are:

Depth Chart

Portland (PPG)
Boston (PPG)
PG A. Miller 13.2R. Rondo 11.5
SG B. Roy 18.4R. Allen 16.4
SF N. Batum 12.0P. Pierce 19.2
PF L. Aldridge 18.4K. Garnett 15.4
C M. Camby 6.5S. O'Neal 11.8

All of these kids in Portland have potential to be stars, but just not living up to the hype. Maybe it's Nate McMillen or it could just be too much pressure on a young team, but either way they need to figure it out quick or they will be out of the playoffs in the West.

The Celtics should exploit Nicolas Batum and whatever SF the Blazers throw out there and leave Paul Pierce or Ray Allen open.

Celtics: 98-91
Tommy Award: Pierce

What Should Cleveland Do When LeBron Returns

There will obviously be a lot of hub bub surrounding Queen Blames return to Cleveland after they bent him over in the summer.

Here are the thing I wish happens to him:
1. Delonte West Banged Your Mom chants
2. Nancy Kerrigan like "accident"
3. Beer thrown at him
4. Team Bus gets set on fire.
5. Pearl Harbor like attack to Quicken Loans Arena
6. He has a career ending groin injury
7. Death
8. No one goes to the game and he plays in an empty stadium
9. On court fight when Mo Williams clotheslines him
10. He poops himself

Birds and Cat vs. Cat

It takes about 50 seconds to get to the real action, but the building tension is worth it.

The U Fires Randy Shannon Wrongly and is now targeting Jon Gruden

Randy Shannon may not have been winning as much as the U desired, but he was really changing the reputation of Miami in his time there. During Shannons time there he had 1 arrest and a 3rd best graduation rate. Something no one could have ever imagined from the U.

Now the school is rumored to target Jon Gruden and if they pull it off it will be a great signing for the school, however, it shows it's true colors of what it cares about, and that is winning.

Gruden would be able to out recruit probably most of the Florida schools figuring he has a bigger name and a shiny superbowl ring to show off when he goes on recruiting trips. Anyway, I believe they will get it done as the U will be willing to throw all the money in the world at him.

The NFL Hates James Harrison

You can kind of understand James Harrison's threat to retire earlier in the year. The NFL hates him. I'm not one to be a conspiracy theorist, however this is kind of fishy. The former defensive MVP has now been fined 123K this year, and fined another 25 K last game on a tackle on QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

That fine and the fine on Drew Brees are completely bogus. The Massaqui fine was far too much also with 75 k. I mean how is it possible that Andre Johnson, who stopped a game by throwing punches at someone's head gets fined the same amount as someone making a hard tackle.

I know he brought a lot of this upon himself by opening his mouth, but hell someone needed too and the NFL is now taking it out against him by fining him 25 k a game basically. It has to be extremely frustrating to being fined for playing hard, and the NFL and Goodell needs to really check it's ego and let the players play. Because as a Steelers fan, it sucks to watch a good defensive team not being allowed to play good defense without being fined.

NFL Power Rankings

1. New England Patriots (2) - I'm impressed, Tom Brady is playing like the best quarterback in the league. The Jets may be in for a shock Monday night. I don't care if you're the 85 Bears or last years Jets, no one can stop the Patriots dink and dunk efficient offense.
2. New York Jets (1) - I have yet to be completely impressed by the Jets, but the only thing I have come to the conclusion is that Mark Sanchez is for real.
3. Atlanta Falcons (3) - Beat Green Bay and proved to me they are for real.
4. Chicago Bears (15) - I guess we have to take them seriously too, big win and the biggest stat is that Cutler threw 4 TDs and 0 picks.
5. Baltimore Ravens (5) - Big game Monday night, probably playing for the division and a bye.
6. Pittsburgh Steelers (6) - This will flip flop after this weekend as Ben is 5-0 against Baltimore in his last 5. They will probably win the Superbowl.
7. New Orleans Saints (7) - They are hanging around and have lost some of the hype around them, that could really come back and bite the rest of the league in the ass.
8. Philadelphia Eagles (4) - First hiccup in the Michael Vick era in Philly.
9. San Diego Chargers (12) - Best regular season team, Phillip Rivers is the MVP thus far.
10. New York Giants (10) - A win to the Jaguars isn't that impressive, but it did stop a potential epic losing streak.
11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11) - I love them, I don't think they will do anything, but I like them.
12. Indianapolis Colts (9) - I don't want to hear injury excuses, they just are playing shitty and it starts with number 18.
13. Kansas City Chiefs (17) - Not good, but competitive
14. Miami Dolphins (14) - I guess Thigpen wasn't for real Bob.
15. Green Bay Packers (8) - Aaron Rodgers has no more excuses to hide behind with injuries, he is simply not a clutch QB
16. Cleveland Browns (21) - Peyton Hillis is the man. Mangini robbed Denver blind in the Quinn deal.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars (19) - Play strong, but I don't like or respect them at all.
18. Houston Texans (18) - Another team, I can't figure out. Should be better then they are.
19. St. Louis Rams (22) - 5-6 and in first place, gross
20. Oakland Raiders (13) - Falling apart, but a decent story
21. Minnesota Vikings (25) - Have won a couple games since Chilly has been removed.
22. Tennessee Titans (16) - Are all over the place, the offseason will be messy between Young and Fisher.
23. San Francisco 49ers (23) - Hey they are one game out of first place in the division, maybe we jumped the gun with Mike Singletary and his Giant cross.
24. Washington Redskins (24) - Why don't they bring Larry Johnson and Willie Parker back?
25. Seattle Seahwaks (20) - gross.
26. Denver Broncos (26) - I have no idea what to think of Josh McDaniels, I personally like him, but he seems to be a bad coach.
27. Dallas Cowboys (27) - Sweet fumble Roy Williams.
28. Arizona Cardinals (28) - Epic rant by Derek Anderson
29. Buffalo Bills (29) - They are a tough team, but apparently God hates them.
30. Detroit Lions (30) - You can see potential, but they need to put it together.
31. Cincinnati Bengals (31) - Could have the number 1 pick.
32. Carolina Panthers (32) - I hate them.

Why the Pats/Jets Game Is So Important

As if you hadn't heard, the Patriots play the Jets Monday night. And I for one, cannot wait. Because this is the most important game of the regular season. The winner will likely claim the AFC East title, an inside track to the #1 seed in the AFC, and an almost guaranteed bye in the playoffs as at least the #2 seed.

The loser, even if they finish with the 2nd or 3rd best record in the Conference, will get nothing better than a 5 seed. That means no bye, that means playing on the road.

So if the Patriots lose, they could be forced to travel to Indianapolis or San Diego to start the playoffs, despite having a better record AND beating both those teams in the regular season.

That may sound like a raw deal, but that's just how it is.

So it's safe to say that whoever wins this game will get an extra week off (in this topsy-turvy, anyone-can-beat-anyone NFL, how vital is that?), and get to play at home. The loser gets a tough road game, then another tough road game, then likely another tough road game.

This is not a must win game for either team. It's not like a playoff game, because you can't lose a playoff game and still have a chance to win the Super Bowl. The loser of this game will be in the playoffs, they'll just have a much more difficult road to travel. But the winner will get to skip a round, and play at home.

106 Celtics, 87 Cavs

I have to pat myself on the back and tell you how awesome I am for a minute. I have been absolutely on fire with my pregame scores. Everyone who reads this site should bet based on my predictions. I predicted 99-84 and although it's not perfect I have been within a couple of points most games and of course my Rondo prediction was right.

Now to the game:
For some reason I get mad when Rondo scores more then getting assists. I'm rooting for him to break John Stockton's 14 assists per game record and only getting 12 last night is unsettling. He dropped 23 points, and absolutely owned the paint, but step your game up Rondo, get at least 14 a game. Now he has to get 16 tonight to even things out.

Like I was saying the Celtics owned the paint. They scored 60 points in the paint compared to the Cavs 26. And the bench mob had one of its better games with Quisy scoring 16 and Glen David having 17 and 11 rebounds.

The importance of Marquis Daniels is unmeasured this season. With Delonte out for a while and Von Wafer (although has a cool name) being useless, Quisy has been a more then pleasant surprise this season. He can really play the 1-3 and plays good defense and is a very efficient offensive player. He is turning into the player we thought we were going to get last year.

The Celtics are playing the surprisingly awful Portland Trailblazers tonight.
