"Rockies manager Jim Tracy told the Denver Post that the Rockies are looking to add an "impact bat" this offseason. According to the report, the Rockies will target Red Sox catcher Victor Martinez if he is available (WEEI)."
I have a huge fucking problem with this. V-Mart should be locked up, there realy aren't many catchers out there that hit the way he does. Sure 4 years from now he probably won't be a catcher, but neither will Ortiz, so who the fuck cares. His defense isn't the best, but it's also not as people make it out to be.
I understand if the Sox let Beltre walk. He is a classic case of a guying playing for his contract. V-Mart on the other hand plays a premium position, and the Sox just can't afford to lose this guy. There are many first baseman the Sox can take a run at, while moving Youk to 3rd....Konerko, Pena, Dunn, ect through free agency, and obviously Fielder/Gonzalez through a trade.
Bottom line is there is a lot of room for improvement, but this is one position that can be taken care of "in house". Perfect off season would be to resign V-Mart, sign Konerko/Dunn or trade for Fielder/Gonzalez, sign an OF (Crawford/Werth), and fix the bullpen, and maybe some rotation depth.

Sox Need To Do Right By V-Mart
Clinton Portis Losing Job?

It hasn't happened yet, but don't be surprised if Portis losing the starting RB job with the Redskins. They are currently 28th in the NFL in rushing, and they seem to be losing patience.
Now there is word that Portis might just be the 3rd down back from now on. Shanahan says he will start, but things might be turned over to Ryan Torain soon, which I find hilarious considering this team had Willie Parker, Larry Johnson, and Portis all on the roster to start the preseason.
Portis only has 140 yards on the season, so a change wouldn't surprise me, but if this offensive line doesn't improved it's not going to matter who is in that backfield.
Why Not?
Why not watch little girl get knocked the fuck out?
South Park or Family Guy?

It's a good question. What is the better show Family Guy or South Park?
In my opinion it's South Park. They have been able to do it for such a long time, and still keep the show fresh. Everything is current, and they are way better story tellers. I know that's not what Family Guy is about, but I feel Family Guy has somewhat been played out. Last season sucked, and if anyone sat through that terrible murder mystery to start this season, you would think things aren't looking up.
Meanwhile, I don't think there has been a bad South Park season. Sure they have had a couple bad episodes, but overall it is just way better. I know this is completely random, but DP and I were talking about it the other day, and I was wondering that everyone else thoughts were?
Evan Longoria Injury Update

"Longoria has not played since September 23 due to a strained left quadriceps. While manager Joe Maddon thinks Longoria will play at some point this weekend against Kansas City, he also will not hesitate to sit out his star third baseman until the playoffs if the injury is not sufficiently healed (ESPN)."
It sounds like he will be back, but injuries are going to play a huge part in these playoffs. The Yankees need Pettitte healthy, the Rangers need Hamilton, and the Rays need Longoria. I hope all of them are able to play, because I hate excuses, and if everyone does play we could be looking at a real good playoffs (even without the Sox in it).

Austin Rivers Headed To Duke
Austin Rivers, the son of Doc and the best basketball player in the Class of 2011, has chosen Duke.
This is a bittersweet feeling. I'm glad that Doc's son is getting a great shot and him and Stephen Curry's brother should be a great back court however, it's Duke. I hate Duke and I don't want to see them be successful. I'm sorry Doc but I guess the best I can do for you is rooting that your son doesn't play the first year, gets discouraged and transfers to a noble school like Kentucky.
NFL Is Going To 18 Games
It's pretty much set in stone that the NFL is going to 18 games, and that is really awful to me. I know what is going to happen is that players will be bought out to shut up about the matter, but I'm disgraced with the greed of the NFL. The NFL already screws it's players with non guaranteed contracts and up until a couple years ago long term health measures, and extending the season will only do that more.
Hines Ward had some strong words about the matter: "I'll probably be the last double-digit guy," said Ward, the Steelers' career receptions leader who is in his 13th season. "The 10-year guys you won't see any more, except for your quarterbacks. The running backs, you're really going to see a short lifetime span. The season's just too long [already]."
And he's right. It seems like there is an ACL tear every week, a concussion problem, etc, I don't know why the NFL is taking advantage of these players more. Especially with all this new stuff coming out with long term health damage with concussions. I think this might be the first time that john q. public will actually side with the million dollar athletes over the owners.
I'll watch the NFL because I love the sport, but I'll do it under protest.
Always Sunny Review

Last night's episode: "The Gang Buys a Boat."
It was going to be hard to top last week's episode. But even considering that, I was disappointed with last night's show. There were a few moderately funny parts, a few funny lines, but I rarely laughed out loud.
It's a concept with potential, but that potential was wasted. They never went out to the open ocean. And there was hardly any drinking at all. And in the end, Charlie burned the boat down, Gilligan style. Who didn't see that brand of catastrophe coming?
Charlie diving and finding a "horse massacre" was hilarious, but after that, the humor in him diving and retrieving junk was fairly bland. The time used up doing that could have been used doing something on the ocean, or heavy drinking.
Maybe my expectations were high. It wasn't a bad episode, just not great. And you can't go wrong with random sketchy guys having a party with ridiculously hot girls.
Funniest Charlie moment:
"Let's talk shrimp."
Funniest Mac moment:
His reaction to the diabetes guy
Funniest Dennis moment:
"Because of the implication."
Funniest Dee moment:
Dancing with the inflatable man
Overall rating (scale of 1-10):

Rex Ryan Is A Clever Bastard
When Trevor Price was recently let go it was assumed he would be right back figuring he had a guarenteed contract from the Ravens, however, Sexy Rexy was able to swoop in and grab him to join the New York Jets. With season-ending injuries to linemen Kris Jenkins and Ropati Pitoitua, the Jets were looking for depth -- specifically, an inside pass-rusher. Ryan, formerly the Ravens' defensive coordinator. This is a great move for the Jets who only need to pay the former standout 700 thousand.
I'm sure he will take a little backlash for an etiquette issue but hey at least it's not taping your opponents practices.
My Take On The LeBron Thing

Since I'm not a racist bigot like BMack, I will rationally talk about this LeBron race non-issue without just blaming black people for everything.
LeBron recently that the reaction to hating him for "The Decision" was racial motivated. Stating:
In the interview, CNN correspondent Soledad O'Brien asked about "The Decision," the one-hour special on ESPN in which James announced that he would play for the Heat, and some of the negative headlines it generated.
"It's just about control and not doing it the way it's always been done or not looking the way that it always looks," Carter said.
O'Brien asked if race played a role.
"I think so at times," James said. "It's always, you know, a race factor."
Said Carter: "It definitely played a role in some of the stuff coming out of the media, things that were written for sure."
If LeBron wants to point fingers at anyone he should look at himself in the mirror. The way that he went about "The Decision" by making it a big self aggrandizing event turned many people off of LeBron and hurt his Public image more than race image. It was an awful idea and the fact that he and his agent thought it was appropriate was even more of a reason to realize this guy was an ego maniac. He basically wiped his ass with Cleveland and did it in the most disrespectful fashion as possible. It's easy to make every negative event surrounding black people a race issue, but if that's the case I want LeBron to explain this picture:
Many people have left their teams in search for selling themselves and making themselves a business which becoming a free agent gives you that right. Look at our very own Shaquille O'Neal who ditched Orlando for LA, the LA for Miami, and Miami for Phoenix and so on and so on. In any of those moves you never heard anyone bashing the big fella and that is because he never held "The Decision" and the same could be said with Deion Sanders, Karl Malone, Oscar Robinson, etc. And not once have we heard backlash as much as LeBron.
The truth is LeBron isn't Muhammed Ali or Jim Brown, he is an ego maniac that found a clever way to play the race card in his favor. And all your Michael Wilbons and J.A. Andande's who bashed LeBron 2 months ago for holding "The Decision" have now changed their tune and enabling racial bigotry.
LeBron's backlash has nothing to do with race, it all boils down to a bad "decision".
8 White Sox, 2 Red Sox
Jon Lester's quest to reach 20 wins, 15 scoreless inning streak and Cy Young hopes all ended abruptly on Thursday when the White Sox tagged him for 8 runs in 4 innings. It's a shame as he would have been the first Sox lefty to win 20 games in 20 years.
It all came crashing down in the 4th inning when Paul Konerko hit a grand slam. Konerko connected for his 39th homer of the season and the ninth grand slam of his career. The fourth-inning shot off Lester made it 6-2 and Dayan Viciedo chased the Red Sox ace with a two-run homer in the fifth.
I've heard Dayan Viciedo is here to save baseball.
The only bright spot was when VMart hit a homer too, but other than that, it was an ugly game.
Scoring Summary

Chick Of The Day
I was told from a co-worker yesterday that we don't have classy chicks as the Chick of the Day and have fake women, so today's chick is classic Audrey Hepburn.
